The PEF
Method
In 2018, the European Union developed and adopted a scientific method, the PEF (Product Environmental Footprint), to rigorously define and assess the environmental footprint of products.
It takes into account 16 impact categories (climate change, freshwater ecotoxicity, particles, use of fossil resources, etc.) and all stages of the product life cycle.
Today, it is the only scientific, reliable, and objective way to determine the extent to which a product is truly environmentally friendly.
Carbon
footprint
Beyond this multi-criteria approach, the Carbon Footprint, which only measures CO2 emissions, is nevertheless an essential step for a company wishing to assess its environmental impact by including its products, operations, and infrastructure.
With this in mind, we conducted our first carbon footprint assessment for 2023 covering scopes 1, 2, and 3.
As a result, the main decarbonization levers are at the product level, and more specifically, materials. We are therefore currently establishing an ecodesign plan starting with the FY26 season.
